What does 2011 Census Data on Migration shows us ?

Most women migrate because of marriage, and distance is an important factor in determining gender differences in migration for work and education.

India’s migration pattern has been diverted to more than one calculation. The number of external expatriates in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar is quite high, while the population of migrants is more than one-third in metros like Delhi and Mumbai.

  1. As widely believed, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar are most responsible for the migrants. According to the 2011 census, 20.9 million people went out of the state from two states. It is 37% of the total number of inter-State migrants according to that calculation. Data for migrants 2011 is available now.
  2. Delhi and Mumbai are widely considered migratory magnets and 2011 census bears. According to this, the number of migrants from other states of Delhi and Mumbai was 9.9 million, or that about two-thirds of the combined population of 29.2 million in these two metros that year.#census #migration #population

    Inter-state escapes in India

    1. Between 2001 and 2011, the growth rate of migrants increased for other destinations within their respective states in comparison to the external states. Between 1991 and 2001 census, the number of so-called inter-state migrants increased by 55%. It decreased to only 33% between 2001 and 2011 census. On the contrary, between 1991 and 2001 census, the growth rate of so-called inter-district migrants (within the same state) increased from 30% to 58% between 2001 and 2011. Not only are people moving within the states, they are moving ahead within the districts. Increase in inter-district migration (movement within the same district) increased from 33% to 45% between 1991-2001 and 2001-11. Obviously, people are getting better opportunities closer to home than before.

    1. Which drive migration is there in India? Due to gender differentiation. Two-thirds of the women cited marriage as the reason for their exodus from the last place of their place of residence.
